No one would blame you if you said that the Tata Nexon and the Mahindra XUV 300 are the safest cars in the country. They were the safest until the Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun were tested recently by Global NCAP. Before we tell you how they fared, let’s take a look at the new standards that they have been tested on.
Starting in July 2022, Global New Car Assessment Program introduced some new parameters for rating vehicle safety. These stringent parameters have made scoring 5-stars even more difficult for vehicles. The new parameters are as follows:
Needless to say, both the Kushaq and the Taigun have scored 5-stars on their tests. So, what makes them the safest cars in India? Well, the Kushaq and the Taigun are the only cars tested by G-NCAP that scored a 5-star rating for child occupant protection. They’re also the first cars sold in India that have been tested on the new G-NCAP norms and have scored a 5-star rating. The Nexon and the XUV300 do have a 5-star rating which is for adult occupant protection but, they have scored 4-stars for child occupant protection. This makes the Kushaq and the Taigun the safest family cars that are being sold in India right now.

For the competition, it is a great opportunity to improve on what they are already offering. For the consumers, well, I guess we benefit the most from this healthy competition as we have a range of products and manufacturers to choose from. The only dilemma is which one to choose.
